LAST SHOW!

May 27, 2010

Thanks. It’s been so much fun doing this show for the past year, and both E-Rock and myself have learned a lot. Huge shouts to everyone that’s ever listened or downloaded, and the artists that gave us the time to interview them. We pretty much went crazy this episode, so enjoy. And we will be back bigger and stronger next year! So stay tuned.

The SymPhony 4/29

May 4, 2010

“I said I wanna ride ya nuts, cuz I think you’re the man!”

The truth is back. This weeks show was quality, we dropped new cuts from Pac Div, Wiz, Kooley High, and Thugnificent. We also revisited the classic pre-tight clothes era of the early 2000s, triple xl tees and enyce jeans. Don’t front like you didn’t crush some Platinum Fubu! Cop it!

The SymPhony 4/22 – RIP Guru

April 24, 2010

Gang Starr is the reason I listened to hip-hop the way I do. Period. I heard “Mass Appeal” when I was 11 years old, and that was it, I never looked back. When word of Guru’s illness first hit the public, I was hit way harder than I expected to be. I was riding the Q train home across the bridge and couldn’t believe it. Now that he has passed on, I realize how much his voice meant to my adolescence; he literally got me through high school. And so here and now, all I can do to thank him is this tribute show on this small college radio station. I hope he appreciates it.

The SymPhony 4/8 – El Reggaeton EXPLOSION

April 16, 2010

El SymPhony! E-Rock hopped on the wheels today to bring the finest in old and new reggaeton. Some gems include “Mujeres En El Club,” a beautiful duet between Aventura and 50 Cent, “Reggaeton Latino,” the cult classic by Don Omar, and the track that started it all “Gasolina” with Daddy Yankee, Pitbull, and that special child Lil Jon.

[Interview] Wiz Khalifa

April 4, 2010

We had the pleasure of chatting with Wiz Khalifa after his show at Middle East last week. Dude tore it down, and was hilarious on and off camera. Major shouts to Arthur and Will, as well as Yelawolf who also blessed the stage that night.

Oh dear Lord! *faints*

“ResLife, eat a sack of baby dicks!” = Probably the most poignant statement ever made on The SymPhony. And shouts to Ridgeway in Philly for listening, and telling us to get our shit together and put up a tracklist because “how’s a bitch supposed to listen to new music when she doesn’t know what it is?!” You’re 100% right. Also, forgive us for messy levels in the beginning.

The SymPhony 2/18 – THROWBACK THURSDAY

February 19, 2010

A walk down memory lane. Inspired by a reminiscing session at lunch, we did a full set of late 90s/early 2000s jams. I’m talking joints you haven’t heard in a MINUTE, that we know you forgot about. We had it sounding like Hot 97 in there.  At one point we were feverishly Harlem shaking with the other ZBCers looking at us like we were epileptic. Lets go.

“AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!” – E-Rock.

[Video] Sean Price – “Figure Four”

February 5, 2010

Breaks my heart that I didn’t get to drop this today, because this is the most gully track I’ve heard since I first heard “Paper Planes” (and anyone who says that track wasn’t super gully is a damn fool). Sean Price is about as Brooklyn as they get right now.
